Aneji came to us with a diagnosis of thoracic-spinal intradural tumor. Dr. Tewodros, after examining the 48-year-old woman, decided to operate in a prone position. The intervention was predictably difficult as the tumor was lodged in an area of difficult access. During surgery, and to further complicate things, Aneji began to bleed copiously. Thanks to the forethought of the team that had brought several hemostats (lacking at Adama Hospital), the hemorrhage could be stopped and with the help of Dr. Clavel, the tumor was finally removed.
We visited Aneji in the following days to happily verify that the patient was evolving favorably.
A success thanks to the collaboration of the team and a good amount of medical supplies that we carry with us.
